RADICALI LIBERI, STRESS OSSIDATIVO E CIBI ACIDIFICANTI

Dispelling SOME PREJUDICE ABOUT THE CHOLESTEROL

Cholesterol is an alcohol molecule belonging to the group of sterols, formed by an oxygen atom, 46 of carbon hydrogen and 27 (C27H460). The sterols are found everywhere in nature, both in the animal world and in plants (phytosterols). The cholesterol is not found in fats but in the fabric. Those who consume the lean steak or fish to avoid thinking cholesterol are wrong. It is precisely in those tissues which it is located. In fat instead there is plenty of triglycerides, which are real fat. It is true however that cholesterol dissolves only in fat and not in water.

CONCEPTS HDL And LDL-GOOD-BAD ALL BY REVIEWING AND REDEFINING

It should be borne in mind that most of the cholesterol is produced by our liver at the rate of 1-2 grams per day, while with the power we can go from 0.1 gram of vegans to a maximum of 0.5 (in the cases of strong and pathological feeding animal-protein). The values, both at the bottom than at the top, are always symptomatic of a general equilibrium which varies according to the personality of the subject, the life he leads, and the foods they consume.

CHOLESTEROL IN ITSELF IS AN ESSENTIAL FRIEND

Cholesterol itself does not have anything demonic but carries precious bodily functions. It is part of the cell membrane, giving it rigidity, flexibility and shape. Defends cells from microbial attack and acidity (see creation of protective mucus). It is essential component for the serotonin receptors, for the nervous-brain tissue (20%) and for the peripheral-nervous tissue (45%). It is essential for the regeneration of body tissues, such as hair, nails, muscles, skeleton. Plays a role in the permeability of the intestinal cells, and then in allergies and autoimmune diseases. It is a precursor of vitamin D, for which improves the absorption of calcium.

CHOLESTEROL NOT TRAVEL DUE TO BLOOD BUT THANKS TO ITS LIPOPROTEIN

It is thanks to the cholesterol that occurs growth and cell division, the synthesis of thyroid hormones, such as aldosterone, cortisone, testosterone and estradiol. To be able to navigate well he does not need a watery fluid like blood, but tiny droplets of phospholipids and proteins, lipoproteins, calls classified according to their density HDL (high density lipoprotein), which carry cholesterol from the periphery toward the center, and LDL (low density lipoprotein), which make the reverse trip.

INFLAMMATION AND OBSTRUCTIONS ARTERIES

The problems are all in the inflammation of the arteries and blockage of the arteries, and it is therefore necessary to focus our attention on inflammatory factors and not on cholesterol. Now there is no need to switch from the demonization of cholesterol to the exaltation of the same. It is certain that the considerable differences between individuals are dependent on lifestyle.

RADICALS, OXIDATIVE STRESS

If there  aren't  good and bad cholesterol, what is  the real problem? The problem lies in oxidative stress and free radicals. LDL lipoproteins are not in themselves the evil monster, but rather the oxidized LDL, which become dangerous as altered. What is it that alters the LDL? A regular use of food unfit for human gastrointestinal system.

CHOLESTEROL OXIDIZED UNDER THE SIGHT, BUT ALWAYS AS A SYMPTOM

The reality is that oxidized cholesterol may indicate an ongoing illness and not itself be the real disease. In this view, oxidized cholesterol becomes a symptom and, like all symptoms, indicating a difficult situation, a red light that needs to be remedied not silencing the alarm, not speaking to the sound of statins that tend to silence and worsen the situation, but operating on the cause of the problem (in this case the oxidant factor), as should be done for all diseases.

THREE TEST TO UNDERSTAND THE TRUE SITUATION CARDIOVASCULAR

What then are the real indicators of cardiovascular problems, if we put in disparle cholesterol? The latest positions speak of three specific tests that are:

1) Test on homocysteine in the blood, which must be as low as possible (average values 5-15 micromol / L (but already at level 12 there is nothing to worry about).

2) Test the degree of calcification present in the coronary (assessment of arterial plaque).

3) PCR test, or the C-reactive protein (which indicates the degree of oxidation of the organism, and which should not exceed 10 mg / L (correlated with the ESR test, ie with the tests on the rate of erythrocyte sedimentation ).
