Come funziona e quali sono le novità della nuova soluzione vista (e premiata) a Las Vegas

Come da tradizione, anche al Ces 2022 vengono presentate le tecnologie che caratterizzeranno l'anno che è appena iniziato. In ambito tv, uno dei trend più recenti e interessanti è quello dei cosiddetti qd-oled, una sigla che sta per quantum dot oled e che è anche conosciuta in alternativa come Qd Display da Samsung. È curioso notare che proprio i coreani erano stati i primi a parlare apertamente di questa tecnologia, tanto che uno dei premi del congresso (Ces Innvoation Award) è stato assegnato a un modello da 65 pollici che però per il momento non è stato ancora mostrato. A bruciare sul tempo Samsung ci ha pensato Sony, con la linea A95K, ma nel 2022 potrebbero uscire molti altri modelli anche con Tcl, Panasonic e Xiaomi.

I Quantum Dot in ambito tv non sono una novità, dato che venivano implementati già nei cosiddetti qled ovvero con gli schermi led: con la soluzione qd-led si vanno a unire i vantaggi di questa tecnologia con i pannelli oled. La struttura degli schermi qd-oled vede un primo strato composto da pixel in grado singolarmente di autoilluminarsi di luce blu, piazzato al di sotto di un secondo strato con quantum dot, ovvero cristalli nanometrici di materiali semiconduttori che si attivano quando irradiati. La luce blu passa attraverso il layer soprastante: la parte soltanto trasmissiva lascia semplicemente passare il colore blu, mentre i quantum dot spostano il picco di emissione per creare il verde e il rosso; la combinazione dei tre permette di creare tutte le sfumature possibili. 

Si mantiene dunque la possibilità di creare il nero perfetto semplicemente spegnendo i pixel che emettono luce, mentre i vantaggi riguardano una maggiore luminosità totale e colori con più saturazione per un gamut più ampio, inoltre migliora la visione anche ad angoli più spinti e la resa con contenuti hdr con intensa illuminazione, mentre diminuisce l'emissione di luce dannosa per gli occhi fino a circa il 40% e sembra che verranno anche ridotti i riflessi sullo schermo.

Il nuovo Sony Bravia XR Mater Series New OLED A95K si troverà in formati da 55 e 65 pollici, sfrutta un particolare stand che può risultare quasi del tutto invisibile ed uno strato di dissipazione termica per aumentare luminanza media ed il picco. Il misterioso tv Samsung da 65" Qd-Display premiato al Ces potrebbe uscire allo scoperto a breve, per ora viene descritto come dotato di Infinity Design, processore Neo Quantum 2022, quattro ingressi hdmi 2.1 e pannello a 144 Hz.

Non resta che attendere le presentazioni di altri modelli, che potrebbero fioccare nella seconda metà dell'anno soprattutto in corrispondenza con Ifa di Berlino.

How it works and what are the novelties of the new solution seen (and awarded) in Las Vegas

As per tradition, the technologies that will characterize the year that has just begun are also presented at Ces 2022. In the TV field, one of the most recent and interesting trends is that of the so-called qd-oled, an acronym that stands for quantum dot oled and which is also known alternatively as Qd Display by Samsung. It is curious to note that the Koreans were the first to speak openly about this technology, so much so that one of the congress prizes (Ces Innvoation Award) was awarded to a 65-inch model which, however, has not yet been shown. . To burn on time, Samsung took care of Sony, with the A95K line, but in 2022 many other models could also come out with Tcl, Panasonic and Xiaomi.

Quantum Dot in the TV field are nothing new, since they were already implemented in the so-called qleds or with led screens: with the qd-led solution, the advantages of this technology are combined with oled panels. The structure of the qd-oled screens sees a first layer composed of pixels able to self-illuminate with blue light, placed underneath a second layer with quantum dots, or nanometric crystals of semiconductor materials that are activated when irradiated. The blue light passes through the layer above: the only transmissive part simply lets the blue color pass, while the quantum dots move the emission peak to create green and red; the combination of the three allows you to create all possible shades.

Therefore, the possibility of creating the perfect black is maintained simply by turning off the pixels that emit light, while the advantages concern a greater total brightness and colors with more saturation for a wider gamut, it also improves the vision even at more extreme angles and the yield with hdr content with bright lighting, while decreasing the emission of harmful light to the eyes by up to about 40% and it seems that reflections on the screen will also be reduced.

The new Sony Bravia XR Mater Series New OLED A95K will be found in sizes of 55 and 65 inches, uses a particular stand that can be almost completely invisible and a thermal dissipation layer to increase average luminance and peak. The mysterious 65 "Samsung Qd-Display TV awarded at Ces could come out shortly, for now it is described as equipped with Infinity Design, Neo Quantum 2022 processor, four hdmi 2.1 inputs and 144 Hz panel.

All that remains is to wait for the presentations of other models, which could flock in the second half of the year especially in correspondence with Ifa in Berlin.
